This policy describes how Walk handles information on your device. Walk is a local-first step and journey app. It does not operate user accounts and does not run a Walk backend that receives your activity data.
| Topic | Practice |
|---|---|
| Accounts | None |
| Backend / cloud sync for Walk | None (MVP) |
| Step data source | Health Connect on your device (read steps, with your permission) |
| Where Walk stores data | On your device (Room + DataStore) |
| Analytics / ads / crash SDKs | None in MVP |
| Sale of personal data | No |
With your permission, Walk reads step counts from Health Connect to show daily progress, streaks, journeys, challenges, achievements, and related reminders. Walk does not write steps back to Health Connect in MVP.
If provided: display name, daily step goal, height and/or weight (for distance/calorie estimates only), unit preference, and notification toggles. Stored on-device.
Daily aggregates, streak state, XP/level, journey/challenge progress, and achievement unlocks.
Optional local reminders via WorkManager. Notification permission may be requested on Android 13+.
Only to power in-app progress, estimates, gamification, and optional local notifications. No advertising use, no sale, no Walk-operated server upload in MVP.
Health Connect / Google: Steps come from platform components under Google’s terms. Manage access in system or Health Connect settings.
Google Play: Distribution and Data Safety disclosures apply. MVP includes no separate analytics, ads, crash, or social SDKs.
Account deletion: Not applicable — Walk has no accounts.
Walk is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country).
Walk is a wellness and motivation app. Distance and calorie figures are estimates, not medical measurements. Walk does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or guaranteed weight-loss outcomes.
MVP processing is on-device. Walk does not transfer Walk-stored activity data to a Walk cloud service.
Updates to this policy will change the effective date and, when required, the Play listing and in-app disclosure.
